For those with the travel bug, there arguably isn’t a more diverse or fun continent to visit this year than Asia. Whether looking for a vibrant city break or a chilled beach vacation, Asia has almost everything for every type of traveler. With Summer now in full swing, here are the eight best countries to visit in the continent, as users on a travel forum suggested.
1. Japan
One of the most popular suggestions was Japan. One user said: “Japan is the easy choice here. If money isn’t an issue, then go; it’s certainly the most unique place in the world, coming from an EU/US perspective. I did a month in 2015, and it was one of the best trips of my life.”
2. Vietnam
One traveler, who has moved to Vietnam permanently, suggested it was the best place to explore in Asia. They said: “I really love the north of Vietnam. You can go to the mountains in Sapa and check out Ha Long Bay—it’s super beautiful. I’ve lived in Hanoi for almost a decade now; it’s one of the most unique cities I’ve been to.”
3. South Korea
One person said that if your budget is big enough, then a tour around South Korea is unrivalled. They said: “South Korea has a few big cities (Seoul and Busan) and a ton of natural parks. It also has no shortage of history and culture.”
4. Tajikistan
One user said that Tajikistan is one country in Asia that isn’t spoken about enough. They said: “Go different and be rewarded for it. The people are friendly, and the climate is generally warm as well. It has beautiful architecture and delicious food, and you can travel all over the country and see mountains, lakes, and rivers.”
5. Thailand
While Thailand is perhaps Asia’s most popular travel destination, there is obviously a reason for that. One traveler, a frequent visitor to the country, summed it up well, saying: “It’s easy to travel to and has beautiful historical cities. There is also a lot of good nightlife, cheap but good accommodation, and the food is just superb.”
6. Malaysia
One user recommended Malaysia, particularly for tourists who are interested in sampling the local cuisine of each place they visit. They said: “Kuala Lumpur has some of the best food I’ve found anywhere.”
7. Nepal
One person said that Nepal was the perfect spot if you are traveling with people with different interests considering the variety on offer in the country. They said: “The Annapurna circuit is spectacular and super affordable. Kathmandu is hard work but a good experience, and Pokhara has rivers and lakes. There’s even a savannah in Nepal if you’re interested in Safari.”
8. Sri Lanka
One person said that Sri Lanka would be top of their list if they were planning to return to Asia. Explaining why, they said: “Lots of nature and beaches, along with lots of animals, plus history with lots of ruins. It’s a magical place to visit that is also surprising as it’s not well known.
