For many people, going abroad is the perfect opportunity to sample the nightlife in some of the biggest cities in the world. If you are one of these people and are on the lookout for the best places to visit for nightlife, then we’ve got you covered. We have listed the eight best responses from a travel thread that discussed the liveliest cities at night across the world.
1. Hong Kong
One user said that he has had some of the best nights of his life in Hong Kong. They explained why: “There are some really cool places there, like Lan Kwai Fong, to go on a night out. Also, it’s super safe. Even if you get very drunk, you can take a taxi and safely reach home.”
One person said that the Spanish capital is one of the most vibrant places they have been. They said: “Never been anywhere so alive at all times of the day (minus siesta hours). The nightlife is insane and so cool. One of the best places on Earth, in my opinion.”
One user said that Berlin is always their go-to if they want to go somewhere for a big night out. They said: “First time I went to Berlin, I tagged along on a bar crawl as they appeared at my hostel – about 70 people. The next night there were about 90 people. I’m spending a weekend in Berlin next month purely for the nightlife.
One traveler said that Budapest is the best place they’ve been in Europe. They said: “I have been there twice, last time in 2018, and I remember some awesome nights out! It was during Sziget, so maybe an exceptional week, but if someone asks for hidden gems in Europe, I still go with Budapest.”
One user was a huge fan of Seoul in South Korea, and given their description of it, it’s easy to see why. They said: “No last call rules, the party keeps going as long as there’s demand, and it’s really easy to request songs too.”
Another Asian city that proved to be a popular suggestion was Shanghai. One person said: “I used to get breakfast between club hopping and leave a fully packed club to a full sunrise and people going about their day. I felt like a gargoyle, but those were some great nights.”
One person was very complimentary about Seville’s nightlife. They said: “Sevilla is the best for a vibrant city night scene where everyone of all ages is walking about and eating and drinking and hanging out in bars and restaurants until about midnight. The discos are open much later, but I don’t know what they are like.”
8. New Orleans
One traveler said that New Orleans was the best place for a party in the US. They said: “We went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras in Feb 2020. Which I mean, in hindsight, is nuts and wasn’t our smartest move- they now think Covid was circulating there- but it’s amazing how much people didn’t care about COVID just a few weeks before everyone did. Helluva wonderful town and party!”
