John Enjoys Bali's Beauty Despite Concerns

The Original Poster starts with a traveler, named John, who had heard a lot about Bali and was considering adding it to his multi-stop Asia trip.

However, he was also skeptical due to comments he had read about Bali being a “tourist trap” and wondered if it was really worth it.

Despite Concerns

Despite his concerns, OP decided to go ahead with his Bali itinerary. Upon arrival, he was immediately struck by the natural beauty of the island, with its lush green rice terraces and picturesque beaches.

He also found that Bali had a rich and unique culture that was evident in its many temples, traditional dances, and local customs.

While it's true that Bali can be a bit touristy in some areas, OP found that it was still possible to get away from the crowds and experience a more authentic side of the island.

He enjoyed exploring the less-visited temples and villages, where he was able to see local craftspeople at work and learn about the traditional way of life.

Travelers Shared Their Opinions on Bali

A user said, “It really depends on your mindset. If you go in thinking it's this pristine, untapped destination that's going to change your universal perspective like influencers say it is… you're going to have a bad time. If you go in understanding it's a major tourist destination, you will be fine.”

Touristy but Stunning

Another user said, “It's touristy yes but worth going. The gamalan performance I watched in Ubud Palace was absolutely stunning. Once a week on a Sunday evening, if you were inclined. If I'm remembering correctly.”

Another user said, “Bali was one of my favorite places, Uluwatu is great, the beaches are really nice and great for snorkeling, saw an octopus, turtle, cuttlefish and plenty of other cool things while snorkeling right off the beach, the food was great and cheap, the Airbnb we were at was very cute. The one thing I would do differently is I would choose to stay somewhere closer to the beach, the big downside there is that there is a taxi mafia so it is hard to get rides. Ubud was a really cool place as well, with beautiful and great food, and some good shopping as well. Overall highly recommend just being aware of the taxi situation there before going and you'll be great.”

Another user said, “I absolutely loved Bali! Feel like my 10-day trip was insufficient! So much to explore culturally! People are super nice! And the food is one of the best in that part of the world!”
