On both ends of the traveling spectrum sit two types of travelers. The first type is those who enjoy ticking off new places every time they go away and never go to the same place twice. The second type is those who love certain destinations and visit them repeatedly. 

Today, we will be looking at the 8 most “addictive” countries in the world, as suggested by frequent travelers. 

1. Japan

One user said they couldn’t get enough of Japan. They said: “For me, it’s Japan. I have been there 4x and still want to go a few more times. It’s been the most picture-perfect country I have traveled to. Love the traditional culture and food.”

2. Costa Rica

One scuba-lover said they have been to Costa Rica several times and are planning more future trips. They said: “The people are lovely, the land is so gorgeous, and the scenery varies greatly depending on which area of the country you’re in. The weather is fantastic, and it has some of the best scuba diving locations I’ve ever seen.

3. Croatia

One person said that Croatia has a special place in their heart and that they have visited the country 15 times so far. They explained why: “It’s the first country I ever traveled to as a 5-year-old, and I have loved it since childhood. I fell in love with it again when I became an adult, and now I have to visit every year.”

4. Italy

Italy has countless beautiful spots and was a popular pick amongst Redditors. One user said: “Beautiful country, amazing food, great people; I’ve always found it so easy to communicate there – with a bit of English and a bit of Spanish, I’ve had full-on conversations. There are still so many areas I want to visit!”

5. Mexico

One Redditor said that they find themselves going back to Mexico a lot. They said: “You have five different climates, all within six hours of each other. Each region has its own subculture/ endemic food. The landscapes are phenomenal, and there’s booze everywhere.”

6. Vietnam

Vietnam is a popular vacation spot for backpackers. One user who has visited multiple times said: “I’ve been a ton, and I would happily go every summer if allowed. Food is fantastic, from a street vendor or market stall to a 5-star hotel restaurant. I don’t think I’ve ever had a bad meal there. The mountains are amazing, and the cities are charming and busy.”

7. Greece

One commenter said they find themselves gravitating towards Greece every few years. They said: “The first time I went, I was super young, 17 or so. Then I went again in my early/mid-20s and my 30s. It’s always pulling me back for some reason. It’s truly an incredible country with incredible people.”

8. France

One person said France has a “special place” in their hearts. They added: “I always feel at home there. It was my first European country when I did school there as a teen, so it always tends to call me back. I’ve been four times, and likely a 5th coming soon.
